How Fillers Can Restore Lost Volume to Your Face

Lots of people want to be young forever, and they’ll do anything to stop the appearance of aging. Your skin, especially the skin on your face, is the first to betray your desire for youth. From fine lines and wrinkles to loose and saggy skin, it can be hard to keep yourself looking as young as you feel. Fortunately, you have the power to reverse time and restore the youthful plumpness to your face and skin with fillers.

At Harmony Aesthetics Center, our team of aestheticians led by Melanie Abeyta, RN is dedicated to giving you the look you want with the industry’s leading fillers

Why does your skin change as you age?

It’s no secret that your body goes through changes as you age. New aches and pains develop, and you lose the youthful pep in your step. Your skin is no exception. Your forehead expands as your hairline recedes, your ears begin to drop as the cartilage grows, and the tip of your nose sags as you lose connective tissue.

Perhaps the most frustrating is the loss of volume and wrinkles in places like your cheeks, lips, and chin. When you’re young, you have an even amount of connective and structural tissue supporting your facial features. Those evenly distributed pockets of fat, collagen, and elastin start to change and rearrange as you get older.

Lips that were once full and pouty are now thin and disappearing. Your cheeks begin to sag and become wrinkled. But this doesn’t have to be your fate. You can stop Father Time in his tracks — with fillers.

Filler basics

Fillers are an injectable aesthetic treatment. This minimally invasive procedure uses safe, natural substances to make small adjustments to your appearance and reduce the look of aging. Fillers are best used for restoring the volume you’ve lost over time and smoothing away the fine lines and wrinkles that have developed on your face. You’ll notice benefits like:

The volume-boosting power of fillers is subtle, so you know your results are natural-looking. What’s best about fillers is that it’s a simple procedure that only takes a few minutes of your time and has no painful recovery.

Before you sit down for your first injection, you’ll discuss your goals and medical history with our team. From there, we determine which filler will work best for your specific needs and circumstances. We’re proud to offer a comprehensive list of fillers that work in slightly different ways to help you achieve the look you want. Here are a few of your options:

Juvéderm®

Perhaps our most popular filler, Juvéderm, uses hyaluronic acid to plump up and reshape the contours of your face. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin. It helps your body retain water and connective tissues like collagen and elastin, giving you the full facial features you had in your youth.

Juvéderm has different products for different areas of your face, including your cheeks, the area around your mouth, and your lips. This filler is also best if your main concern is severe wrinkles. With Juvéderm, your results will likely last up to 18 months.

Restylane®

Similar to Juvéderm, Restylane contains the all-powerful, all-natural hyaluronic acid your face needs to look its best. This filler works well on your face, but it can also be injected into your hands if you want to give them a youthful appearance, too. Depending on the area that’s been treated, Restylane can last for 6-18 months.

Our other fillers

We know that no two faces are the same, and that’s why we offer a wide variety of filler treatments. In addition to Juvéderm and Restylane, we also provide Radiesse® and Sculptra® fillers as well.

Radiesse fillers contain calcium hydroxylapatite. This substance might be a mouthful to pronounce, but its volume-boosting powers are undeniable. You can find calcium hydroxylapatite in your teeth and bones, but when it’s injected into your face, it acts as a structural framework for your tissues to grow on and around. The results are fuller features for up to 15 months.

Sculptra fillers are our longest-lasting fillers. These use poly-L-lactic acid to kick your body into collagen production mode. The substance eventually dissolves after your body has successfully created its own collagen. You’ll need approximately three treatments, but the results last for up to two years.
