Botox, Botulinum type A, is a neurotoxin injectable that is mainly used to smooth out fine lines and
wrinkles. A sign of aging, wrinkles can develop as a result of facial movements like squinting, frowning,
smiling and other daily expressions that we tend to make.
Botox blocks nerves that contract muscles, which relaxes them and softens and reduces the wrinkles on your face. Botox is the right choice if you’re looking to diminish the wrinkles associated with aging or want a more youthful look.
Botox can be used to treat areas where muscle activity influences facial features like:
- Contracting muscles between the eyebrows and above the nose
- Lifts the Brow for a dramatic refreshed look
- Softens Crow’s feet
- Softens hard lines at the corners of the mouth
- Removes forehead creases
- Removes the appearance of cobblestone chin
Although Botox has a vast market in the US, at Harmony Aesthetics Center Med Spa, we also offer Dysport.
Dysport is a neurotoxin injectable that has been the go-to treatment for Europeans. It has an established record of success and safety.
It works like Botox and has the same clinical effects; however, it may provide a more natural soft look to
those who have just started developing fine wrinkles. The main distinction between Botox and Dysport lies in their formulation which influences the dosage used; results, and how much the product spreads.
Just like Botox, Dysport is also an FDA-approved solution.
Xeomin, another option provided at Harmony Aesthetics Center Med Spa, is slightly different from
Botox and Dysport.
It is a Botulinum extract that is formulated to relax the muscles and smooth out wrinkles. The main difference between Botox and Xeomin is Xeomin does not contain any protein additives; it is less allergenic as compared to the other two options. It is an alternative form of neurotoxin for the rare patient who stopped responding to Botox due to the development of antibodies to the proteins in Botox. Xeomin is also effective in erasing forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.
Dermal fillers are used to reverse the aging process by restoring volume and fullness to the face and softening deep and fine set lines.
Juvederm dermal filler is a smooth gel that’s active ingredient is hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that adds hydration and volume by stimulating the production of connective tissues that plump the skin. As we age the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen decrease which leads to the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin.
Allergan, the pharmaceutical company that produces Juvederm offers several concentrations of hyaluronic acid (molecule size & weight for simplicity) which determine the gels consistency and application and allows us to find the perfect balance for your needs.
At Harmony Aesthetics Center Med Spa dermal filler can be administered in a 15 to 45-minute visit and the results are instant. The effects of the dermal filler can last up to a year or more. Slight swelling and occasional bruising can occur after treatment but vanish after a couple days.
Juvederm Ultra Plus is a version of Juvederm that includes a small percentage of a local anesthetic. It is used for correcting more severe facial wrinkles, marionette lines and deep nasolabial folds. Ultra Plus can be used in a liquid facelift procedure to help sculpt and reshape facial contours.

contours, as well as hard to treat facial wrinkles. The protocol involves three injections over a 3 to 4- month period. Results appear over time and have been clinically tested to last more than two years. A healthy immune system is required to consider Sculptra as well as additional risk factors.
